- 1 lb macaroni
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Cook macaroni according to package instructions.
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat; stir in flour, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Gradually stir in milk; cook and stir until thickened and bubbly.
- Remove from heat and add cheese; stir until melted.
- Drain macaroni and place in a large bowl; pour cheese sauce over macaroni and mix together.
- Transfer to a 2 quart baking dish.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
