Challah Bread
Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 packages active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

Steps
  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, salt and yeast.
  2. Stir in the warm water and oil.
  3. Knead until smooth.
  4. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down dough.
  6. Shape into 2 loaves and place into greased 9x5 inch loaf pans.
  7. Let rise for about 30 minutes or until doubled in bulk.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown.
