- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Using a pastry blender or two knives, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the buttermilk until just combined.
- Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently 4 or 5 times.
- Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter.
- Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
