Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. Using a pastry blender or two knives, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently 4 or 5 times.
  6. Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter.
  7. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
