Buttered Biscuits
Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup milk

Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  3. Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the milk until just blended.
  5. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead lightly 10 times.
  6. Roll out to 1/2 inch (1 cm) thick and cut with a 2 inch (5 cm) biscuit cutter.
  7. Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Brush with butter while still hot.
