Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Steps
  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar and yeast. Stir in warm water and oil and mix until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes. Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth and let rise until doubled in volume (about 1 hour).
  3. Punch down dough. Knead for a few minutes and divide into two portions. Shape into loaves and place into two greased 9x5 inch loaf pans.
  4. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise until doubled (about 30 minutes). Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  5. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Cool before slicing.
