- 1 cup rye flour
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 2 cups buttermilk
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, stir together the flours, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the molasses and buttermilk. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just blended.
- Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool bread in pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto wire rack to cool completely.
