Black Forest Cake
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk

Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9 inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk.
  3. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into center of cake comes out clean.
  4. Cool cake completely before frosting.
