- 1 large onion, cut into 1/4-inch rings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 12 ounces beer, at room temperature
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper.
- Dip the onion rings in the beer batter and coat evenly.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375 degrees F.
- Fry the onion rings in batches until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain on paper towels and season with additional salt if desired.
