- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup green pepper, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- In a large skillet, cook the beef over medium heat until no longer pink.
- Add the onion and green pepper; cook until tender.
- Stir in the garlic powder, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper; cook for 1 minute.
- Stir in tomato sauce; simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and 1 tablespoon of cold water; stir into beef mixture and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Pour mixture into an ungreased 9-inch pie plate.
- Cover with pastry dough or pre-made empanada shells.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
