Banana Cream Pie
Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 egg yolks, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 9-inch prepared graham cracker crust
  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced

Steps
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually stir in the milk until smooth. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils. Boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat.
  2. Stir a small amount of the hot mixture into the egg yolks; return all to the pan, stirring constantly. Bring to a gentle boil and cook for 2 minutes longer.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract. Cool slightly.
  4. Arrange banana slices over bottom of graham cracker crust; pour warm filling over top.
  5. Chill for at least 3 hours before serving.
