Angel Food Cake
Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups sifted cake flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 12 large egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an angel food cake pan.
  2. Sift together the cake flour and sugar in a bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until foamy. Add cream of tartar, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add the sugar mixture to the egg whites, beating until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the flour into the egg white mixture with a rubber spatula. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Cool in pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a cooling rack.
  8. Cool completely before serving.
