- 1 1/2 cups sifted cake flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 12 large egg whites
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an angel food cake pan.
- Sift together the cake flour and sugar in a bowl.
- In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until foamy. Add cream of tartar, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add the sugar mixture to the egg whites, beating until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the flour into the egg white mixture with a rubber spatula. Be careful not to overmix.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool in pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a cooling rack.
- Cool completely before serving.
