Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 pounds beef stew meat, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Steps
  1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides, about 10 minutes.
  3. Add the ginger, black pepper, cinnamon and cayenne pepper (if using) and stir to combine.
  4. Pour in enough water to cover the beef by 1 inch. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour or until the beef is tender.
  5. Serve with steamed rice or noodles.
