- 4 ounces self-raising flour
- 4 ounces shredded suet
- 4 ounces currants or sultanas
- 2 ounces sugar
- pinch of salt
- 1/2 pint (300ml) of milk
- Mix together the flour, suet, currants or sultanas, sugar and salt in a bowl.
- Add the milk gradually, stirring until you have a soft dough.
- Shape the dough into a roll about 2 inches thick.
- Wrap in greaseproof paper or foil and steam for 1 hour.
- Serve with custard or cream.
