- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup raisins
- In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in the warm water. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let sit for 5 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the oil and mix until combined.
- Add the flour mixture to the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms. Knead for 8 minutes.
- Add the raisins and knead for an additional 2 minutes.
- Cover with a damp cloth and let rise for 1 hour.
- Divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and then flatten it into a 4 inch round disc.
- Place on a greased baking sheet and let rise for 20 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool on wire rack before serving.
