Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup raisins

Steps
  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in the warm water. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the oil and mix until combined.
  3. Add the flour mixture to the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms. Knead for 8 minutes.
  4. Add the raisins and knead for an additional 2 minutes.
  5. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise for 1 hour.
  6. Divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and then flatten it into a 4 inch round disc.
  7. Place on a greased baking sheet and let rise for 20 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Cool on wire rack before serving.
