In a medium bowl, combine the corn kernels, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and pepper.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and melted butter.
Add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Stir in the cheese.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Drop heaping tablespoons of batter into the hot skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
Serve hot with your favorite condiments or sauces.
