Cheese Scones
Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted and cooled slightly
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk, at room temperature
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. Add the butter and stir until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the buttermilk and cheese until just combined (do not overmix).
  5. On a lightly floured surface, knead dough gently 10 times.
  6. Pat dough into an 8-inch circle about 3/4-inch thick.
  7. Cut into 8 wedges and place on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Transfer to a wire rack to cool slightly before serving.
