- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter, melted and cooled slightly
- 3/4 cup buttermilk, at room temperature
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Add the butter and stir until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the buttermilk and cheese until just combined (do not overmix).
- On a lightly floured surface, knead dough gently 10 times.
- Pat dough into an 8-inch circle about 3/4-inch thick.
- Cut into 8 wedges and place on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Transfer to a wire rack to cool slightly before serving.
