- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs, separated
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled slightly
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form; set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, buttermilk, butter and sugar until blended.
- Stir in the dry ingredients just until blended.
- Gently fold in the beaten egg whites.
- Cook according to your waffle maker’s instructions. Serve with fresh berries of your choice.
