Ingredients
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 pounds pork shoulder or butt, cut into 2-inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 3/4 cup BBQ sauce

Steps
  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the pork cubes and cook until lightly browned. Stir in the brown sugar, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, ground cumin, and chili powder.
  2. Add 1 cup of water to the pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until pork is tender.
  3. Remove from heat and use two forks to shred the pork. Stir in the BBQ sauce and serve on hamburger buns.
